Adidas Uses Helping Hand From Justin Alliman’s “Dream Chaserzzz Basketball” Program

With the home opener of the Toronto Raptors last week, there was no shortage of excitement in the city. Keeping in line with that, Adidas Canada took the opportunity to bring to light their Free to Create initiative. The brand collaborated with @Justinalliman, owner of @dream.chaserzzz to create and take York University basketball players through a practice plan which was co-hosted by the head coach of the Raptors 905, Jama Mahlaela.

The program is a state of mind that shapes the athlete’s world both on and off the court. The initiative focuses on three pillars which include:

Individuality / Inclusion

Adidas Basketball believes that anyone with a ball of any kind can play the game anytime and anywhere. Through multiple touchpoints, Adidas will celebrate and enable individuality through inclusion.

Limitless Potential

Adidas Basketball believes that once you discover identity and individuality, the potential to do more is limitless.

Self-Discovery

Adidas Basketball believes that on the journey towards creative freedom, self-discovery is one of, if not, the most important aspect of the journey.

After the practice session, the students were surprised with a video message by Adidas athlete Kyle Lowry, Point Guard for the Toronto Raptors. They were also invited to the home opener.

The students got the chance to be a part of the Gondola experience and enjoy the historic moment in Canadian basketball.

In addition to the York University activation, Adidas Canada popped up in Jurassic Park with a branded slot machine. Fans also had the opportunity to win 25th Anniversary Adidas Raptors tees and Ultraboost 19’ shoes.

When asked what it meant to be chosen by Adidas Basketball to create and run their session Justin replied “ It’s a very special moment, I had to really sit back and think how far I’ve come both as a trainer and as a company. To be able to do show my work on an Adidas platform and do it with my brother’s basketball team was truly something I won’t forget.

Justin Alliman Inks Deal With Adidas

One Famous quote by Toronto native rapper Drake once said “ Started from the bottom, now we’re here”. Nothing more could express that exact feeling from Justin Alliman as he signed his first major endorsement deal with one of the biggest apparel brands in the world.

Justin had previously done projects with other brands such as NIKE and UNDER ARMOUR but nothing as significant as when Adidas approached him with an idea for him to run basketball training sessions for York University. What was then thought to be a one time contracted event turned out to parlay itself into a full out brand ambassador role for Adidas Canada.

Change can't happen alone. #ChangeIsATeamSport

Justin Alliman is now the only basketball trainer in all of Canada to be fully endorsed by one of the three major apparel giants of the world. When asked if he thought this would be a good fit for himself and his brand Justin replied “ I am very excited to have a role as significant and rare as the one I’ve agreed to with Adidas. There’s no other brand out there that believes in what I’m doing as much as they do. Plus I’ve always been a huge fan of Adidas one of my favorite basketball shoes of all time is the Adizero Crazy lights. Those shoes made me feel like superman. So far my experience has been great, they listen to my thoughts and opinions. I really feel that I have a valued voice in what’s going on.”

Stay tuned to see what Justin and Adidas have in store. We are sure it will be exciting.

The Raptors 905 have officially announced on Wednesday August 15th their finalized coaching staff, and Dream Chaserzzz founder/head trainer Justin Alliman will be serving as a mentor coach for the 2018-2019 season alongside two-time Olympian Tamara Tatham.

Raptors 905 Head Coach Jama Mahlalelah will be mentoring Alliman and Tatham, and they will continue to coach and develop Canadian talent. Working with the Raptors 905 will not only allow Alliman to apply his coaching skills with top class athletes, his coaching skillset will continue to grow as he learns under a mentorship consisting of collaboration, feedback and dialogue.

Alliman adds this experience to his already-impressive coaching resume; he was the player development coach for the National Basketball League of Canada team "Mississauga Power".  He has worked with over one hundred world class athletes who have played in the WNBA, NBL, Canadian Senior National teams both Mens and Women's, NBA and NBA Summer League. He also currently works for the NBA as a Jr. NBA coach in Asia, where he has worked with over 60,000 athletes.

Alliman states on his new role: “I hope to be able to develop as many players as possible; helping them to become full-time NBA caliber players, while ultimately bringing home another championship for the team.” This new endeavor is another testament to the caliber and skill-level of the Dream Chaserzzz brand, and shows that Canadian talent development is in good hands.

It was an exciting, fun day that really highlighted the love and dedication this company has for the sport and development of aspiring young athletes. Justin Alliman (Global basketball trainer & NBA Ambassador) shared the Dream Chaserzzz program’s global reach by speaking about his knowledge and life experiences after a tour around Asia; educating and conducting training seminars with the youth. David Tyndale discussed the traits and qualities needed to get to the next level, and ultimately stay there. He also discussed the level of dedication needed for the game in order to make it far by stressing how basketball needs to be a life choice, and not just a hobby. Tyndale has been living and training in Philadelphia with Canadian NBA player Nik Stauskas; who recently just became the newest acquisition of the Portland Trailblazers roster.

Overall, it was a day filled with fun, laughter and excitement for the present and what the future holds. There were a lot of interactive activities, including a shootout where the winner took home a brand new pair of Steph Curry 4 signature shoes. Whether it was a young athlete or a parent— everyone left with something to commemorate the party, and Dream Chaserzzz are ready to push forward and evolve as the program’s reach continues to grow.
